Rule Number : 2-08 :PACKING AND MARKING OF CARGO
A. -Where no package specifications are prescribed in individual Tariff Line Items, the article or commodities will be accepted in any package, which in the judgment of the Carrier, adequately protects the article or commodity from any damage in ordinary handling and stowage and is suitable for ocean transportation.
B. -When any individual Tariff Line Item specifies any specific method of packing, the rates named in that item will only apply to articles or commodities so packed.
C. -Carrier will assume no liability for damage to cargo caused by improper loading, stowing, bracing and packing of the cargo inside of the container when loaded by the Shipper.
D. -Cargo received at Carrier’s terminal must have each single carton, package or other separate article legibly identified with the name and address of the shipper and consignee. In addition, such single carton, package or other separate articles, when moving under “Order-Notify” or other similar arrangements, must be legibly marked to that effect.
E. -On containers loaded by shipper, materials and labor required for securing and proper stowage of cargo in containers must be supplied by Shipper at their expense and Carrier will not be responsible for such materials or the return thereof.
F. -Packages must be marked durably and legibly and must show the port of destination. All packages must be numbered, which number, together with the marks and destination must appear on the shipping receipts and Bill of Lading.
G. -Gross weight in pounds and initials and port of destination must be clearly and legibly shown on all packages, also on all Originals and copies of the dock receipt tendered at the time of delivery.
